Cheldelin Middle School Disc Golf Club
When it comes to buying a disc there is so much information. Discs are analogous to clubs when playing ball golf. There are different discs for different distances, that turn in different directions, in different types of plastics.... it can be very overwhelming.
When you go shopping, ASK FOR HELP!!! Do not buy a disc that isn’t beginner friendly- you won’t throw it well at all. Most newbies mistakenly go buy a distance driver as their first disc just because it has a cool picture on it, and then experience great frustration when they can’t throw the disc well!
Disc Buying Advice
If you only want to buy one disc and just start playing, get a mid range. You can get good at the whole game- drive from the tee, and even putt, all with only one disc. Personal recommendations would be an Innova Roc or an Innova Kite, but any will do. I used to play entire 18 hole courses, start to finish, with just a Kite.
If You Only Want to Buy 1 Disc:
Get a Mid-Range!
Further distance, but only once you know how to throw them well! Won’t fly well until you are both very skilled and very strong.
Won’t go quite as far, but will be very accurate for beginners. Mid-range= best single disc for starting out.
